LEGO Temple of Athena 1 by Saber-Scorpion LEGO Temple of Athena 1 by Saber-Scorpion
LEGO Temple of Athena, inspired by the Parthenon of Athens, Greece. Yes, I drew a decal for the sculptures in the pediments. I'm sure a more talented LEGO builder could have come up with an all-bricks solution, but I compensated with my 2D drawing ability. Sorry.

Just fantastic.
This is my dream project, the one thing I'd like to build but will never be able to.
But to see it actually done! Wow.

long time builder here: you did a great job! as for the decals, well unless you were willing to build it to about half of life size or create a special brick, the decal was unavoidable. also, you managed to hold on to a set color scheme on a custom build. only one of my custom builds has a color scheme that is consistent throughout, so I'm impressed! you should show this to LEGO corp. , I'm sure they'd like it!

This is amazing; also love the fact that you took the painstaking effort and time to finalize everything, right down to the statue of Athena within. The Koi fishes on the roof edges, while not really Graeco-Roman nonetheless add a piquant touch to the gilded trims of the resurrected parthenon.

And don't worry about the pediment, the artwork actually adds a fleshed-out flavour to the overall product, a nice take on the "Lego" art-style. Anyways Thank You for the Stellar work here! :star::heart::star:

Love it! curious though, how did you decide where to place the darker blocks on the columns? it seems fairly random, but I know from experience that random patterns rarely turn out so beautiful

They're random. I tried to give them a pattern at first, but I managed to break the whole creation to pieces when carrying it once, and I just put them back together randomly. :P

well it turned out very well in the end

I've done more works with Bionicle pieces rather than original Lego blocks; You can do more to fudge the pieces and make them do things they weren't quite intended to do. I must have a good $500 worth of parts stashed away in my room back home, lol.

Is everything besides the decal actual lego pieces, that aren't supposed to make a Parthenon?
Because it looks like everything was meant to fit together that way. O_o (I mean, more so than usual for legos)

Yep, it's all just LEGO pieces from my rather large collection. You can even see where some of the older parts are slightly yellowed. The column pieces are from the new LEGO Atlantis sets, and the large roof tiles are actually from a LEGO Sports hockey rink set.

I absolutely adore what you've done here. You're fairly faithful to the Doric order, although the triglyph/metope arrangement is a bit off xD
Nonetheless...
Outstanding!!
